Project: Asset Management Report - New Client

Sector: Municipal

Role: Prime Consultant

Description

We were contracted by a new client to report an asset management plan. As we completed a full inspection, one of their pumps that was previously installed by another 3rd party required a complete rebuild due to the condition and damage to the unit.  The internal bowl of fins showed signs of wear and corrosion. The bowl rings showed inconsistent wear. The impellers showed signs of pitting and the bottom wear rings on impellers showed inconsistent wear which caused a decrease in volume throughput on the VT pump. The majority of the shafts had very excessive signs on corrosion which resulted in replacing it with stainless steel to extend the life of the parts. The threaded collars and wear collars needed to be replaced as well.

This demonstrates the importance of asset management. If we were able to construct an asset management plan sooner and construct scheduled maintenance visits, this issue would have been prevented and could have prolonged the life of the unit.
